Document disaster provisions for individuals subject to sex-offender registration .

Almost no states document what individuals under supervision are to do when an evacuation order conflicts with registration, residency restriction, and community notification requirements. Left undocumented, these individuals are asked to choose between their own safety and a violation that carries severe consequences. Agencies should publish an emergency re-registration procedure for host-state shelters; suspend residency-restriction enforcement at emergency shelters; create a temporary-address mechanism that does not trigger community notification at the evacuation site; and establish a clear re-registration window upon return to residence.
